How Companionship Works
Every part of TheDirectory is built around one idea: a private community is only worth using if everyone in it is genuinely who they say they are. Here is exactly how that works, end to end.
Identity verification, not a tick box
Identity verification here means a real government-issued document, looked at by a person on our team rather than scored by software. Not a checkbox somebody can tick without proof, and not an algorithm's guess. Every photograph on the platform is separately reviewed by a person before it goes live, without exception.

Every photograph, checked by a person
Photo verification exists for a simple reason: a verified identity means nothing if the photos on a profile are not actually of that person. Every image uploaded to TheDirectory is reviewed by a person before it is published, not approved automatically. Photos that do not clearly show the member are rejected, and until a photograph has been approved the template photo shows.

A membership kept deliberately small
New listings go live straight away with a template photo, and only photographs wait for review. Identity verification is optional and earns the Verified tick, so members who want to stand out can show they are who they say they are. Keeping the review to photographs means it stays consistent as the platform grows.

Every photograph here is reviewed by a person before it goes live, and members who have verified their identity carry the Verified tick. Browse who is online now, or join free to message them.

Privacy that goes both ways
Your public profile can be viewed by anyone visiting the site. That is deliberate, and it is how people find you. It is not shown to search engines unless you choose to make it visible. Your public photographs are checked before they appear and can never show nudity or a sexual act. Your private gallery is separate: it stays locked behind the age check, and only members you allow can open it. You control what you share in a conversation, and you can block or report anyone at any time.

Frequently asked questions
A member uploads a photograph of a government-issued document, and a person on our team checks it and decides. There is no algorithm making that call and no automated score behind it.
A person, not an automated system. Every photograph is looked at by a person before it is approved and made visible to other members.
No. Your public profile is open to any visitor, because the directory is free to browse and that is how people find you. It is not shown to search engines unless you choose to make it visible. What is protected is your private gallery, which stays locked behind the age check and is opened only to members you allow.
